KevinHarvey, born 24 Jan1948: I was granted an MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts about 25 years ago; I've been a Professor of English and Creative Writing at New England College for a bit longer than that. I've published fiction in a a number of out of the way places, been nominated for Pushcart awards and turned, for quite awhile to writing of plays. The first finished work, The French Impressionist Wrestler, won a Massachusetts Cultural Council award, the one act ALBERT is due out any day from Lambhouse Press in Portland OR. I've seen it and its a beautiful thing, limited only in number. Two other plays are worth mentioning: Mr. Cypress Solves His Problems, which was published in Entelechy International: A Journal of Contemporary Ideas and the recently completed Sweet Front Street, Dead and Gone: A Play in Two panels and a mural. I am currently polishing a 35,000 word story entitled Where Old Cartoons Go to Die, that was conceived and written to be illustrated. The publication of ALBERT has inspired me to send Andre Broulet, the French Impressionist Wrestler back into the world.

Notes:
Albert is play about difficult art, demanding music, the nature of sound, and quite possibly the afterlife.

French Impressionist Wrestler,The

Synopsis:
Set at the cusp of the early 1960's, the introverted Andre Broulet, recreates himself as Haystacks Monet, pro wrestler. He also falls in love with the uneducated, but brilliant Smiley O'Sullivan. Andre's career is successful. On the morning of Andre's manager's wedding, the epileptic Smiley suffers a seizure while bathing and drowns in the tub. As is so often the case Andre's mom has the opening and final word.

Notes:
Wrestler was written to exist as both readable literature and a template for performance. It was designed as something that would work on a grand scale with elaborate sets or cut to the bone with dummies substituting in any scene that required even a semblance of a crowd: a diner, a package store, a wrestling arena- background photographs...
