Holli's first play, THE REVOLUTION OF KATEY & BEAR was produced at Synchronicity Space, NYC. Her next play, SPINACH DIP, was produced at the Art Awareness Center in Lexington, NY. Her one-woman show, IT'S ALL DASH-A-WU enjoyed a successful run at the New York Theatre Space. THE LYING GAME was part of the summer theatre conference in Steamboat Springs, CO, and her play NAPLES, FLA, was runner up in the readings series at Center Stage South Carolina Theatre and was a finalist at the Great Plains Theatre Festival. Her play, ST. HELENA'S was part of the Potpourri Reading Festival in NYC (where they changed the submission requirements in order to include this play) and her play, PALMETTO was specifically chosen to be included in LaMama's Shadow Reading Series, a festival to celebrate black history month (although it didn't meet the Series' requirements). PALMETTO was also a finalist at the 2009 Ojai Playwrights Conference. As co-founder of The Lexington Group - a group of writers/performers, she co-wrote and created STEP IN AND STAND CLEAR (winner Backstage Critics Pick For Best Ensemble). The Lexington Group's second ensemble show, THE BALLAD OF LARRY THE FLYER, was invited to both the New York Fringe Festival and Piccolo Spoleto Festival (awarded "pick of the day") in Charleston, SC. Holli was co-writer for the short film, CONNECTIONS. She holds a BFA in acting and studied playwrighting with Curt Dempster at EST, and writing under the tutelage of Leslie Ayvazian, Paul Selig, and Claudette Sutherland. Holli is a member of The Workshop Theatre, NYC, Ensemble Studio Theatre, NYC and is Associate Artist with Living Image Arts, NYC.

Notes: | part of Shadow-A Festival of PlayReadings. A festival of concert playreading celebrating Black History Month. Curated and directed by George Ferencz.
Synopsis: | A prominent and influential theatre company that has made its mark in the world by doing only plays by writers of color portraying the black experience in history and in the present day, chooses to do an exciting new play about the Underground Railroad only to discover, right before production, that the playwright is not who they thought she was. That discovery, and its outcome, is spliced between the journey of a young couple, runaway slaves, as they struggle their way north to Canada and the longing to return to the devil that they know as opposed to be continually assaulted by the terrors of the unknown; and with a young boy, born into slavery, who in his own journey finds a different kind of freedom. PALMETTO is a play within a play. It is about freedom, past and present. It is about fear of the unknown, both within and without. It is about what it takes to change the very nature of who we are.

Synopsis: | In 1945 the Nazis transported of 7,000 pieces of the world's most famous art to salt mines in Austria. Some of those masterpieces were never recovered. In 1972 on the secluded island of St. Helena's, Ralph Wunder is an Austrian with a Third Reich past now living on this low-country coast with Edna Smalls, a Gullah descendant of the island's slaves and Ralph's maid and companion. A young woman, Gervais Marion, comes to repair his rotting dock and sex, love and stolen art. A triangle of love, lies and desperation quickly ensues. Once Ralph's past is revealed to Gervais, the question is posed: If you were forced to choose between destroying a room full of precious, irreplaceable art masterpieces and a room full of people, which would you choose? That question is pondered on the global scale as well as the personal scale of each characters life. As things come to a head, Ralph is once again faced with that question. He has sacrificed in the past for art, but now that his life is nearing an end, will he make the same decisions that he made in the past? Something must die, either within or without him. St. Helena's is a play about the redemptive quality of art, about private revolution and the tender balance between hope and despair.
