| Sydney, Australia, 1944. 17 year old Tim has left home and gone to try his luck in the big city. He had been brought up by his aunt and uncle. At home he was bullied by his uncle and after his cousin lost his legs fighting in the War he felt out of place. His uncle tells him to never come back He gets a room in the Kings Cross district in the house owned by Guinea a night club singer. He meets her male friend Lana. Cliff and Alan are friends who share an apartment. They were both court martialed, imprisoned and then thrown out of the army when they were discovered engaging in mutual masturbation. They are both in their late twenties. Tim gets a job in a delicatessen and Cliff spots him there despite the gap in their ages they fall for each other. It is New Years Eve and the five friends go to a fancy dress party. It is raided by the police though luckily none of them get arrested. | |||||
