Synopsis: | Twenty years after his two sons disappeared, King Cymbeline's only daughter Imogen plans to marry against his wishes. Enraged, Cymbeline banishes her childhood sweetheart Posthumus from court. He flees to Italy and makes a wager he'll soon regret. Cymbeline's new queen plots with her ghastly son Cloten. Emperor Caesar is on the war-path. And poor Joan (who's just got back from the Costa de Sol) hasn't got a clue what's going on! Kneehigh turn their unique storytelling style to one of Shakespeare's least performed plays. In a script packed with heart-stopping poetry and characteristic charm, their irreverent adaptation plays fast and loose with the Bard. The result is a wild, giddy and elemental adventure that swings from tragedy to comedy and back again. Never has confusion been such fun!

Notes: | adapted by Carl Grose from the works of Gwyn Thomas; music by Iain Johnstone
| National Theatre Wales and Told by an Idiot bring their critically acclaimed celebration of Gwyn Thomas one of the most distinctive Welsh voices of the last century and an outstanding Welsh cast to the Edinburgh Festival. Taking as its inspiration Thomas ink-black comic tales, The Dark Philosophers is a funny, violent and passionate depiction of a community teetering on the brink of humanity. Using Told by an Idiots trademark anarchic physicality and inventive storytelling, this adaptation brings out the bleak, wild humour in tales laced with sex, murder and Thomas devastating Valleys wit | |||||

Synopsis: | Mr and Mrs Mungus have just had a baby. Unfortunately, it isn't the bouncing blue-eyed boy they were hoping for. . . After a two-and-a-half year pregnancy, Mini Mungus has birthed a monster - one with an accelerated growth rate and an insatiable appetite for anything that moves (including joggers). But when a gaggle of sinister military scientists intent on cloning an army of giant babies extract Little Hugh's DNA, he breaks his chains and escapes. The world can only watch in horror as he embarks on a) learning how to walk and b) rampant destruction. Who will stop this freak of nature? Who will decide his tragic fate? And who, more importantly, will change his nappy? Inspired by Rabelais' equally enormous novel (and from watching too many bad Japanese monster movies), GARGANTUA is an absurd comedy that combines the epic with the domestic, high concept with low comedy, and the grotesque with the heart-felt.
