Notes: play by Esther Wilson,John Fay, Tony Green and Lizzie Nunnery
Synopsis: Unprotected explores the recent developments in Liverpool that surround the sex trade industry through a documentary-style theatrical piece. Esther Wilson, John Fay, Tony Green and Lizzie Nunnery embrace the diverse opinions from many of those involved in Liverpool's proposed legal zones for prostitutes. Based on over one thousand interviews with residents, sex workers, politicians, police and clients of the industry, this format allowed the writers the inside knowledge to create a dynamic and insightful drama. Against this background, transcripts sent in to the writers allowed a compelling and brutally honest tale to unfold. Unprotected is an undeniably forceful play that captures the true essence of issues that surround the real lives of those involved in the very relevant sex trade debate, and its effects on the community as a whole.
