Simon Gratton, a professional actor and musician/vocalist in a group called N.N.O (Nice n Offensive). Wrote his first play in 1985. It is titled Magpies Nest. It was developed with the financial support of the Elizabethan Theatre trust under direction of Peter Barclay. Later produced in 1987. In 1988 after seeing his second play Kickback, produced and directed by Peter Barclay. Gratton was involved in a serious head on motor vehicle accident. He has been writing since but not with the same desperation. Five plays later. He is as we speak writing a novel, with the dream of it becoming a screenplay. Biographical fiction, is there such a thing?

Magpie's Nest

Synopsis:
This play is about prison, heroin addiction and the Father son relationship. It is also about the changes in prison, since the introduction of illegal hard drugs. Set in the 1980's. Hard hitting, hard language and not for the faint hearted. the theme music used as part of the suspense structure, was Lou Reed's Heroin.

Notes:
Directed by Peter Barclay twice, by two different companies. Once in Sydney And once in the A.C.T. At the Playhouse in the Canberra theatre centre. Both productions were critically Acclaimed. there was A production by A company in Perth W.a., it was performed without the Authors permission And was not the final draft. they were reviewed poorly And right whack
