Neeley Gossett is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and was named a finalist in the Kendeda National Graduate Playwright Competition; as a result, her play, Roman Candle Summer, will receive readings at Lark Play Development Center in New York and at the Alliance Theatre in AtlantA. Her works have previously received productions and readings at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, the Coastal empire New Play Festival, the Great Plains Theatre Conference, Mill Mountain Theater, Riverside Theatre, Studio Roanoke, the ethel Woolson Lab, One Minute Play Festival Atlanta with actor's express, and Big Dawg Theater. Her play, Carolina Dive, is published by YouthPLaYS, and she has worked as a Dramaturge at the alliance Theater. She holds an MFA from the Playwright's Lab at Hollins University, Ma in English from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Ba in Theater Arts from Marymount Manhattan College. Neeley currently teaches college English, is a teaching artist at the Alliance Theatre, and is a contributing editor for the Chattahoochee Review.

Synopsis:

Carolina Dive

Synopsis:
Jenna is a teenager living in a place known only for race-cars and beauty pageants. When her friends discover an old bridge, diving off it becomes her obsession. Her strange, solitary nighttime practices make her an outcast, but the possibility of diving for a college team gives her a way to escape the small town. Her future plans are put in jeopardy when a dive damages her inner-ear, and she can no longer keep her balance.
