Synopsis: | The Last Castrato tells the story about the unique, almost forgotten groupthe castratiwho were damaged at a young age by forces beyond their control. Taking place in the early years of the 20th century, he is the only one to make phonograph records. This is his personal journey through which he gains wisdom, self-confidence, and acceptance of his sexual identity through his artistry and aspiration, triumphing over bureaucracy, conservatism, and raw political ambition. Moreschi finally finds out who he really is as he boldly stands up for himself, celebrating his distinctive talent and sexuality, combating homophobia and petty intrigue. This is a drama with comic elements as the clash between tradition and modernity with gender identity unfolds. | |||||
