Set in the waning days of the 1849 gold rush, The Californian's Tale tells the story of Sam, a young man come late to seek his fortune, and Henry, a timeworn old miner who won't give up his dreams. Sam sets out to learn the secrets of treasure-hunting and discovers that there are things worth more than gold.
