Angel

Synopsis:
Tells the extraordinary story of an unexpected friendship between a young girl and an old woman who suffers from alzheimer's. audiences are invited to join Bill on her adventure through time as she forgets about her own problems in life to help an old woman to right the wrongs of her past. the old woman has two times in her head, then and now. She lives alone with a make-believe dog called Satan and she keeps her watch in the fridge. the girl in the red jumper is not happy at home. She follows the old woman home, to a house full of paper, where nothing has been thrown away for fifty years. Together they steal the old man from the place that smells of vegetables and escape to the top of the hill where the air is clean and the sky is the colour of his eyes. Up there the girl will help them finish the race they started when they were young. Creative Producer Miranda Thain said, "the friendship between Bill and Miriam is unusual because, outside of families, young people rarely spend time with older people. This is one of the reasons I think the play is important because the relationship shows us that, however old we get, we can still play and laugh and enjoy one another's company."

Baghdad Zoo

Synopsis:
as the coalition forces invade Iraq in the hunt for Saddam, Seven children take cover from the bombs and sniper fire under the kitchen table. Separated from their parents, Leyla, the oldest of the children at 11, becomes responsible for their survival. It's not long before the need to find food and water forces them out from under the table. as the story unfolds the children find themselves taking refuge in Baghdad Zoo, and are shocked and appalled to find the animals have been abonded in the cages. Based on true events, this poignant story not only shows us the impact of war on our young but also their remarkable courage and endurance as these even children make the survival of the remaining animals as important as their own.

Twelve Miles From Nowhere

Synopsis:
my dad had this farm, passed down from his dad and it'll stay in this family. No way they're getting their greasy hands on it.' Since Michael and Emily's mother left, time has stood still. Their Father James is struggling and can't see a way forward. The farm is in a bad way and going under. . .Then Craig arrives with enough charisma and ambition to charm the birds from the trees. But is he really the answer to their dreams? Set on a remote northern farm, Twelve Miles from Nowhere is a moving and compelling account of what happens when a vulnerable, isolated family let an engaging young stranger into their lives. Merging the dreams and aspirations found in Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men with the northern edge and humour of Barry Hines' Kes, this stunning new play about life on the edge is set against an unexpectedly gritty rural backdrop.
