Synopsis: A 77-year old woman comes, perhaps from South Africa, to visit her son, one of six children, who is more or less down and out in Paris. She has been enormously successful in financial terms. He is a middle-aged gambler and gigolo who has passed through virtually every stage of cynicism and is now working in a local nightclub where the girl who is living with him is his female counterpart. He is the one f~ilure among her children, yet he was the special one, the one she loved the best and permitted to miss school, to spend his "days in the trees." Mother and son blame each other; love and hate each other. And who is really to blame? For that matter, is there really any blame to be placed? To what extent can anyone-even a mother-lead or dictate another person's life? | ||||
