Troy Deutsch is a writer from rural Minnesota living in New York City. His play LAKE WATER was developed at The New Group through the New Group/New Works Reading Series under the direction of Ian Morgan. The play was a semi-finalist for the ONeill Playwriting Conference and received its world premiere at IRT Theater produced by Neighborhood Productions, directed by Daniel Talbott. Troys play PUSSYCAT was produced by the University of Utah and was a regional finalist with Kennedy Center ACTF. His play GLOWING DINOFLAGELLATES was performed on the beach in San Francisco with Rising Phoenix Rep and Kid Brooklyn Productions and he has written short plays for Special Sauce Co. and the Primary Stages Einhorn School of Performing Arts. Troys three-act family drama THE ROSE GARDEN was a semi-finalist for the ONeill Playwriting Conference and he is developing his play A VIDEO WORLD with director Stephen Brackett. Troy is currently in post-production on the short film NO ONE TOLD US, which he wrote, directed, and acted in with Cherry in the Spoon Productions. Training: BFA from the University of Utah Actor Training Program.

Beach Plays, The

Synopsis:
The plays feature inhabitants of five alternate realities where the land meets the sea: mermaids in human form, Vietnam War soldiers and their families, a ghostly sibling reunion, a decidedly strange hotelier, and a wedding with an unexpected guest.

Lake Water

Synopsis:
This play follows Iris and James, two small town high school seniors who become estranged after their best friend suddenly commits suicide. then one "crapping pathetic Friday night," James calls Iris in distress, and she meets him on the dock where the two untangle the painful events of their pasts, address their blossoming sexualities, and struggle to face the limits of their lives. Full of humor and hope, Lake Water sheds light on an all-too-common small town American tragedy.

Shared Intimacy: Underground

Synopsis:
What happens when three playwrights, three actors, and a director are given two weeks to create a thirty minute play about a relationship that is falling apart in a very public place? Most of us have seen and/or participated in very publicly displayed private-moments in NYC. Whether it's the couple making out on the subway, or the couple arguing in the street, our sharing intimate moments with strangers is almost unavoidable. In this site specific play, a small audience follows a couple as they come to the brink of a break-up during their commute. Whether the couple will remain together or not is a decision that hangs in the balance in a very public way.
