Aurora Stewart de Pena is a Toronto based playwright and director. To date, she has written 2 full length plays, 36 Little Plays about Hopeless Girls and Things I've Found and How They Got There, both of which were produced by Birdtown and Swanville at the Tranzac Club Theatre in Toronto. Aurora has also had her work produced in Brooklyn, New York at the New Workshop Theatre, In Harrogate, England at the Harrogate theatre and here in Toronto at the Summerworks and Hysteria festivals. Aurora also frequently contributes articles to Chris Dupuis' online magazine Time and Space.

Synopsis:

36 Little Plays about Hopeless Girls is a series of one minute plays and dances with interwoven plot lines about baseball, credit card debt, millipedes and Ny'pha, a helpful bathroom tissue collector from the world of We'an. It was first produced in August of 2007 at the Tranzac Club and featured Cara Gee, Nika Mistruzzi, Laura McCoy, Julia Lederer, Sedina Fiati, Stephanie Sinclair, Aurora Stewart de Pena, Cossette DeRome, Bonnie Wilson, Monique Moses, Jolene DeVoe, Charlotte Powell and Donna Maloney all under the stage management of Elisabeth Westberg.

Synopsis:

Things I've Found and How They Got There is about the past lives of used items that fall into people's hands during their lifetime. The play explores five different worlds, in five different Canadian locations: St Mary's Ontario, Stratford Ontario, Richmond Hill Ontario, Trinity Bellwoods Park in downtown Toronto, and Winnipeg Alberta. The score was written by local musician Matthew King, of the band DDMMYYYY.
