Daughter Of St Nicholas, The

Synopsis:
In this play within a play set in early 20th-century Russia, a colorful troupe of actors in a small provincial theater is presenting a Dramatization of the Russian classic fairy tale about Snegorka, the daughter of St Nicholas, who braves adversity and saves Christmas by finding the lost reindeer and riding the lead reindeer herself on St. Nicholas' appointed rounds. Sergei, as warmhearted off-stage as on, plays St Nicholas, and Misha plays his sidekick. Irina plays the nervous usher who must "go on" as the front half of the reindeer, with the introvert, Igor, playing the rear. add to the mix Old Popo, the ancient curtain puller who may or may not hear the cues, three little girls from the "audience" who appear as dancing snowflakes, and a half-starved street urchin with stage fright who fits the rabbit costume perfectly and discovers a home on the stage. Playing Snegorka is the star, Vayla, beautiful, temperamental and perhaps too old for the part. When Vayla, in an off-stage fit of pique, trips over a chair and breaks her leg, she is replaced by the reluctant Ludi, the kind, shy, stage-struck dresser, who goes on as Snegorka and saves the show. Your audience will enjoy the Drama, romance, holiday fun and a peek at the backstage world of theater. Unit set - runs about 65 minutes

Jack And the Giant Beanstalk

Synopsis:
there is much more to this play than Jack and a Beanstalk. Of course, there's the proverbial giant, but there is also the giant's overworked, over-wrought wife, an aria-singing harp, a golden-egg-laying chicken with performance anxiety, and a blue-eyed stranger who looks surprisingly like Jack's long-lost father. Naturally, there's the village at the foot of the Beanstalk and the giant's home in the sky, but there is also, 10 years earlier, a sailing ship caught in a storm off the coast of Pago Pago ("or was it Bora Bora") with its blue-eyed master pulled mysteriously from the wreckage by a giant hand. Certainly, there's Jack's distressed mother and the peddler who sells Jack the magic beans, but there is also the peddler's story of having bought the beans from a blue-eyed stranger; the Ladies Plum and Pomegranate, who provide the comic relief in Jack's village; and Jack's pals, including a rough and ready tomboy named adelaid. With all the familiar ingredients in the mix, plus so much more, and with fresh and witty dialogue, this will be a re-discovered delight for actors and audiences alike. Runs about 65 minutes

Doctor Green, no longer sporting green, is bitten by a reindeer. Purple Gumdrop's not purple anymore! and the costumed children, rehearsing for Mrs Claus' annual "Santa Send-off Celebration," begin to look like they're in an old black and white movie. So it's up to Detective Red Mistletoe, now in shades of gray, to get some answers in black and white. Could the three suspicious new arrivals - Bob Humbug, Fruitcake (Humbug's sidekick) and Holly Wreath (Santa's new red-headed secretary) - know anything about Santa's whereabouts? Do they really hail from the South Pole as they claim? Can Red save Santa in time to bring a colorful Christmas to the children of the world and even find a little romance along the way? Of course he can - Just in the Nick of Time! With easily accomplished costume changes, turning characters from colorful to colorless and back again, lots of parts for children and teens, a mystery to solve, a comedy with witty dialogue and plenty of holiday warmth, this show is perfect holiday fare for kids and families

Secret Life Of Girls

Synopsis:
I'm going to tell you a secret - and I don't want you to tell. the secret is about me, about my life, how it will never be the same again In this honest and unflinching Dramatization of teen-girl angst, a window is opened into the tumultuous and destructive world of girls' bullying. abby seeks to gain acceptance as the newest member of the school championship volleyball team. as she and her team-mates struggle to find a friend, a place in the group and themselves, their jockeying for position is sometimes humorous and often heartbreaking.Invitations are extended or withheld, individual friendships sacrificed to collective judgments, and alliances formed and changed daily as they careen from exclusion to isolation to acceptance and back again. Bullying in the form of gossiping, keeping secrets, using friendship as a weapon, name-calling, exclusion, spreading rumors, backbiting, clinging to cliques and manipulation become a prelude to dangerous behaviors such as depression, cutting, and eating disorders. the adults in the girls' lives are either unable or unwilling to change their behaviors. Though desperately concerned, abby's mother is unable to make contact with her daughter, while the volleyball coach and team mom enable rather than work to effect change. When faced with the consequences of their actions, the girls ultimately resolve - one by one - to change their behaviors. Based upon interviews with girls on the giving and receiving end of bullying, the play highlights the impact of "cyberbullying," the facilitation of mean-spirited behaviors through the use of cell phones, text and instant messaging, e-mail and chat rooms
