Deborah Craig has been teaching speech and drama and writing plays since 1975, when she graduated from Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Ms. Craig studied French and Theater for one year at Concordia University in Montreal and during college worked as an apprentice at the Falmouth Playhouse summer stock on Cape Cod. From 1975 to 1980, while teaching English at St. Croix Central High School in the US Virgin Islands, she was a member of the Courtyard Players. There, she performed in numerous plays including Derek Walcott's world premiere of Remembrance. In 1980, Ms. Craig moved to New Orleans to teach high school theater and speech in Louisiana and Mississippi. She is proud to be a Hurricane Katrina survivor! She holds a master's degree from William Carey University, and is a board member of the Mississippi Theatre Association and serves as chair for the Theatre for Youth festival. She is also a member of the Educational Association. Her one-act productions have won numerous awards, including the state Thespian title in 2007 for AA Milne's The Ugly Duckling. Ms. Craig has been married since 1979 to Curtis Craig, and aerospace engineer, and has two children, ages 25 and 22.
