Synopsis: This is an evening of 4 short plays all inspired by the writings of Henry Slesar as follows: THE CANDIDATE in which there are 2 characters who can be either male or female. One character is blinded by prodigious ambitions and the other is one of those lucky people who thoroughly enjoy their job. THE LAST WORD also has 2 characters who can be either male or female. One is at their wit's end on the verge of suicide and the is a dog. MY BABY, THE EMBEZZLER has 3 characters who can be played by 2 actors either male or female. A wife and then the husband confront the boss about being fired with a delicious unexpected turn. THE RIGHT KIND OF HOUSE has 3 characters who can be played by 2 actors either male or female. The 4 plays range from the chilling to the hysterically funny. There are also introductions between each play in the manner of Alfred Hitchcock Presents

Synopsis: What makes this play unique is that every word in this play is true from Lorena Hickok's own writings including books that Hickok wrote about Eleanor and material that Hickok donated to the FDR library in Hyde Park, NY that she stipulated to be opened 10 years after her death. This material includes thousands of letters from Eleanor to Hick, an unfinished autobiography, many letters from other people, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, etc. There are more than 20 boxes of material at the library. Conn has been to the library many times perusing all the amazing things that belonged to Lorena Hickok. The play concentrates on the early years of their relationship. Hickok talks about FDR and his reaction to her relationship with his wife. Other highlights discussed by Hick are what it was like living in the White House, detailed stories about their travels in Canada and San Francisco, the Lindbergh kidnapping, the changes at the White House after Pearl Harbor. Included in the play are excerpts from letters from Hick to ER and ER to Hick that will definitely confirm the passion, caring, and love that these 2 phenomenal women shared.

Synopsis: The audience is invited to Lizzie's party that she holds annually on the anniversary of the murders of her father and stepmother. These are the facts. On August 4th, 1892, Andrew Jackson Borden and his wife, Abby, were cruelly axed to death in their home in Fall River, MA. Lizzie Borden was accused and acquitted of the murders but she spent 10 months in jail awaiting her trial by jury. After her acquittal, Lizzie stayed in Fall River. She and her sister, Emma, inherited almost a million dollars. During this 70 minute drama, Lizzie reveals the family secrets that might have contributed to the brutal ax murders including her father's penny-pinching habits, her sister Emma's death-bed promise to their real mother, a house with no hallways and bedrooms opening into each other and lots more. Lizzie also talks freely about her love affair with one of the great Shakespearean actresses of the time, Nance O'Neil, and of her great love for animals. The "poem" goes: Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother 40 whacks and when she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41. Did she or didn't she? That is the question to this day, more than 100 years after that fateful August 4th. Conn has read and researched and dug and sifted and created a Lizzie Borden with whom we can all identify. Come to Lizzie's party. Listen to her story. Laugh, cry and have fun with her. Lizzie Borden scholars who have seen this play feel that this is one of the most thrilling as well as historically accurate portrayals of the real life events.
