Although I've always loved the theatre, I've only been writing and directing plays for about eight years. I have however, been very fortunate to have had some wonderful companies perform my work culminating in many awards. On the writing side, I have won my share of awards as well! 2002: N.D.F.A. National Drama Festival Association: George Taylor Memorial Award: "Green" & Runner-up the same year with "Cold." 2006: D.A.W.S. Drama Association of Wales: Open Section: "Watching the Magpies." 2006: S.C.D.A. Scottish Community Drama Association: "Watching the Magpies." 2007: S.C.D.A. Scottish Community Drama Association: Geoffrey Whitworth Trophy: Best Original Play in the All England One-Act Play Festival. "The people that live in boxes." 2007: Bognor Regis Drama Club: "Sling yer hook!" Somerset Fellowship of Drama One-Act Playwriting Competition: 2001: "Green" & "Cold." 2003: The Reluctant Witnesses." 2006: The people that live in boxes." 2007: "You're in room eight." & "When we were full of hope." I have to date completed almost 60 plays. "Watching the Magpies" being my most successful. This play is published by Drama Association of Wales, and has been translated into Welsh and won it's place in the Final of the All Wales One-Act Play Festival in 2008 missing out on a place in the British Final by the narrowest of margins! It has appeared all over England, been very successful in Scotland and has been produced in Spain and New Zealand. Other plays of mine are available from Spotlight Publications www.spotlightpublications.com or from me www.lesclarkeplays.co.uk
