Synopsis: | The latest addition to SITI Company's repertoire, Antigone is a provoking tale of family and loyalty, patriotism and war, and the powers of the state. 'This powerful theatrical and emotionally charged experience is shockingly relevant to our present cultural and historic moment', says Artistic Director Anne Bogart. Adapted by Dublin-based Jocelyn Clarke-SITI's long-time collaborator-the play tells the story of Antigone, the cursed daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, who defies the King of Thebes for the right to bury her own brother. One of humankind's most enduring and influential stories, it explores conflicts between individual and state and the choices one has to make to either follow one's own beliefs or obey the law. Antigone was first presented as a work-in-progress at The J. Paul Getty Museum's Getty Villa (CA) in May 2009, as part of their Theater Lab series.

Synopsis: | The Civilians presents the world premiere of In the Footprint: The Battle Over Atlantic Yards, a new play with music. The site of the future Atlantic Yards Project including the Barclays basketball arena is located two blocks away from the theater where In the Footprint will chronicle the conflicts surrounding the largest land development project in Brooklyn's history. This lively theatrical production is inspired by interviews with the real-life players in the controversy, representing many different perspectives: residents of Prospect Heights and Fort Greene, political leaders such as Letitia James and Marty Markowitz, members of Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn, union members, and project supporters such as ACORN's Bertha Lewis. This show is the culmination of a two-year long company investigation. The creative team listened to Brooklynites from Borough Hall to barber shops to gain insights into both the Atlantic Yards drama and the ongoing story of gentrification. In the Footprint, along with several pre- and post-show dialogues, will examine the conflicts that erupted in the case of the Atlantic Yards through to their current resolution in an attempt to discover how the fate of the city is decided in present-day New York and what can be learned from this epic and ongoing story of politics, money, and the places we call home.

Synopsis: | Score is a play about passion-the passion that exists between a man and his music. Director Anne Bogart creates an extraordinary theatrical tour-de-force that chronicles the ideas and obsessions of one of America's greatest figures-Leonard Bernstein. A distinguished conductor, a dedicated teacher, and a composer of rare skill and ability, Bernstein's work is breathtaking in its range and scope-from renowned interpretations of Beethoven and Mahler to his own musical creations, West Side Story and On The Waterfront. Score, adapted by Jocelyn Clarke from Bernstein's writings, stars long-time SITI Company member Tom Nelis in a remarkable study of ecstasy, genius and the power of great music
