Maurice Chauvet (born 18 April 1965): Produced plays include Ascension, A Safe Distance, Bobby Zero, All Night Radio and Wild Kingdom. A Safe Distance received an Ovation Award Nomination (Los Angeles) for best world premiere play in 2004. A revised version was presented in a staged reading by The New Group in New York in 2009. His play Cousin Fred received a staged reading at the Skylight Theater in Los Angeles. Maurice is the co-founder and co-artistic director of Apartment A, a theater company based in Los Angeles, CA. Maurice wrote the screenplay for the film Owning Mahowny (2003, Sony Pictures Classics), based on the book "No Limit" by Gary Ross and received a Genie Award (Canada) nomination for best adapted screenplay. Maurice has written feature films for 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon and several independent film companies. He's written television for Fox TV. He wrote and directed two award-winning short films, Three-Fifty and Suicide Sam, which played in film festivals worldwide.
