Fruiting Bodies

Synopsis:
Mush (Michelle) is on a mission to decontextualize celebrities because the world needs an intervention. Her tech-oriented sister Vicky is convinced apps will save us. Their semi-estranged dad Ben is really into fungi. When a routine mushroom-hunting expedition goes awry, the three of them wind up in a fog-enveloped forest with a mysterious young boy, and together they search for the road back to Vickys precious Tesla. Can they find their way in the face of limited visibility, a preoccupation with an absent brother, the interfamilial politics of race and gender, and no wifi?

Notes:
Nominated for The Kilroys 2015. The Kilroys is a group of playwrights and producers in LA who publish an annual industry survey of excellent new plays by female and trans playwrights.
