Biography of David Caudle

David Caudle is the newest member of the Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group at Primary Stages in New York. His newest play, LIKENESS received full development at the New Harmony Project 2006. THE SUNKEN LIVING ROOM (Current Carbonell Nominee for Best New Work; Winner, Southern New Plays Festival '05; Gold Medal Finalist-Pinter Review Prize for Drama '04, Finalist at the Lark's Playwrights Week '05) was slotted for a World Premiere production at Southern Rep in New Orleans in November '05. Cancelled by Hurricane Katrina, a co-production with the New Theatre premiered in April '06 in David's hometown of Miami. (Named Best Drama of '06 by the Miami Sun-Post.) The New Orleans production opened in January '07. THE SHORT FALL was a Finalist at the Lark's Playwrights Week in 2002. VISITING OURS was developed in the Downstage Miami playwriting workshop and will have a reading in late March at the Abingdon Theatre Company. Earlier productions include HELL'S CUISINART at the Samuel Beckett Theatre in New York and the Tamarind Theatre in Los Angeles, and SWING Florida State University. David's one-act, FEET OF CLAY (Samuel French Winner, Heidemann Award Finalist) is published by Samuel French in its 29th Edition of Festival Plays. The short film version, directed by Carrie Preston, is premiering this spring at the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. David wrote the screenplay for the short film, LANDFILL, based on his one-act, which premiered at the Miranda Theatre in 1997. With an MFA in Scenic Design from the University of Connecticut, David has painted sets and costumes on and Off-Broadway, and is currently distressing peasants on the Coast of Utopia..
