Synopsis: | OPTIMISM is about the way in which people cope with the dissatisfactions in their lives. There is a bizarre phenomenon whereby people will throw themselves 110% into an action which is utterly unrelated to their problems, with an attitude of absolute certainty that it will cure their woes. We create a distraction, we offer up something new to focus on, all the while ignoring the real problem, often leaving us worse off in the end. In essence we are all well schooled in making our lives more complicated. In the current climate any actual changes tend to be cosmetic and more often than should be believed, those changes are drastic and irreversible. The sight of a person joyfully telling everyone how happy they are with their now swollen, bruised and in some places bleeding face in the aftermath of surgery is a tragic, disturbing and undeniably compelling thing to behold. The inherent insanity on show in such situations deserves discussion. This show attempts to do that. Just not in the way people might expect. | |||||
