Synopsis: Bella, Josie, Patricia, Constance and Mildred meet at the community hall each week. They spend their time organizing jumble sales and fair days and inviting guest speakers to address them. Their usual leader, Janine, is away and has organized for Cathy-Anne, a representative of the "A Better You" self-help program to come along and do a presentation. Unfortunately for the rather stressed Cathy-Anne, the women have their own individual issues and are very easily distracted. Has Bella's husband really left her for a biker called Hammer? Is it the Girl Guides that are stealing all the toilet rolls? Can Constance manage to get her daughter's wedding organised? Will Mildred ever master the Monterey Turn? Things do not go as Cathy-Anne had hoped. On top of this, Barry, Cathy-Anne's partner, is constantly calling on her mobile to discuss the lack of offspring in their increasingly rocky relationship. Poor Cathy-Anne is teetering on the edge of a total breakdown and in the ladies misguided efforts to help, things go from bad to worse . . .

Synopsis: Beryl and Tony are a perfectly ordinary English couple. Beryl is unhappy and resentful and Tony likes brown sauce with his mash. On a night just like any other, they sit down to tea in front of the Telly when a strange green light fills the room and the TV newsreaders suddenly disappear. As they bicker and wait for resumption of service, an important announcement is broadcast direct from MI5. Earth has been attacked by aliens and as a result, millions of people have simply disappeared. Beryl and Tony wait for further announcements, unaware that the wheels of fate are turning and that Beryl will have her own part to play in the future of the country. The next morning, they are woken by the appearance of MI5 on their doorstep. Information regarding Beryl's true heritage has been found in the MI5 safe. With the disappearance of the entire British Royal Family, this places Beryl next in line to the throne. The news has spread across the channel and Euro-Royals are circling like vultures. Beryl will decide to take up her rightful position for the good of the country, but is there a place at the palace for a man who likes brown sauce on his mash?
