Neil translates drama and prose from German and French. Last year his translations from German of plays by Maxim Biller and Rebekka Kricheldorf as well as Lukas Barfuss were presented in staged readings in New York and Chicago. His work has appeared in journals induding Two Lines, Chelsea, and Absinthe. He is also the author of Performing Opposition: Modem Theater and the Scandalized Audience and of numerous artides, and has served as dramaturg for new plays with Manbites Dog Theater in North Carolina and 24Seven Lab in New York. Neil grew up and went to university in England; since 1987 he has lived in the US, where he now teaches theatre at Knox College.
