Tallest Tree in the Forest, The

Synopsis:
Bursting with poetic storytelling and 14 songs, including Ol' Man River, and Happy Days Are Here Again, The Tallest Tree in the Forest combines the talents of award-winning solo-artist Daniel Beaty (Emergence-See!) with acclaimed director, Moises Kaufman (33 Variations, The Laramie Project). Discover the true story of Paul Robeson, hailed as the best-known black man in the world' for his incomparable singing and acting, brought low by accusations of disloyalty to America. Through the Night

Through the Night
This is a new solo show written and performed by Daniel Beaty. It tells the story of six interconnected African American males ranging from 10 to 60-one per decade-as they and the people who love and support them venture through the night of events that changes these characters' lives forever. With a blend of Drama, humor, poetry, and music, Beaty inhabits each character through a seamless transformation in his body language, voice and emotional intention that credibly brings each character to life. Beaty says: "My hope for Through the Night is that Black men will feel their stories are being told in a manner that honors and challenges them and that others will have more compassion and understanding of the complexities facing the Black male in America.
