| Synopsis: | 1927 - a speakeasy in San Francisco the "Pussyhats" is run by Lady Madeline who sees an angel on the fire escape. Madeline is desperate to have a baby but her lover and on again off again fiancé, Evan Roche does not. Evan as well as being the Mayor of San Francisco owns the "Pussyhats" and a local newspaper. One of the reporters on the paper is under the mayor's thumb - but is desperate to prove his independence and integrity - and marry one of the girls from the speakeasy.Madeline asks one of the other girls, Ramie, who works there to cast a spell so that she, Madeline, will become pregnant. Another of the girls, Zoë, is already pregnant her doctor comes to tell Madeline the news.The doctor and Madeline fall in love.
