Clive Barker is certainly best known in the horror film genre (for such classics as Hellraiser, Candyman, Nightbreed and Lord of Illusions) but actually began his career as a playwright in London, where he formed the Dog Company theatre ensemble to perform his own works, including cult hits The History of the Devil, Frankenstein In Love, Subtle Bodies and Crazyface.

Notes: | - | |||||
| Running away from his family and angry townspeople, the simple but good-hearted clown Tyl "Crazyface" Eulenspiegel finds himself in possession of the world's biggest secret. Before long, Tyl is being chased by international spies, lesbian bandits, and even the dreaded Spanish Inquisition. But what is the treasure that they all covet? Amidst all the chaos, Crazyface has his own little quest: to find a way to get back to his mother's graces. Can his mischievous guardian angel be bothered to help him? Or the Pope? Chock full of sly topical references, Crazyface is an off-beat mix of horror, comedy, adventure, romance and slapstick that is part pageant, part circus and part meditation on the glory of clowns. . . | |||||
