Joshua allen, a native of Chicago, is the recipient of a New Voices/New York Fellowship from The Lark Play Development Center. His plays include Boy in a Blue Tweed Suit, about Monday Morning, and The Last Pair of Earlies. His work has been developed at Primary Stages, The Lark's Playwrights' Week and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing arts. a resident playwright at New Dramatists since 2011, he is also a member of the ars Nova Play Group and the Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group at Primary Stages. Joshua is a proud graduate of University of Southern California and the Lila acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at The Juilliard School.

Boy In A Blue Tweed Suit

Synopsis:
after seeing a vision of himself in a blue tweed suit, a young teenage boy thinks he will be able to escape his familys farm and move to nearby Memphis. His ailing father, though, has other plans, and keeps him emotionally and psychologically shackled to both the farm and the ghost of his older brother. Their battle of wills threatens to destroy both the remnants of the familys past and the promise of the familys future.

Chrysalis

Synopsis:
Fourteen-year-old Violet is convinced of her own perfection. The only problem is, the rest of the world needs convincing, particularly her older stepbrother Ian, who has been left to take care of her in the wake of their parents sudden disappearance. With Ian and her butterfly collection by her side, Violet attempts to piece together a nascent sense of identity. But when a young woman enters the picture and compromises Violets relationship with Ian, Violet is forced to grow up fast or lose everything.

Last Pair Of Earlies, The

Synopsis:
after eighteen years of marriage, a childless couple living in a kitchenette apartment on Chicagos South Side come to grips with the disappointments of their daily lives and the unfulfilled promise of their younger selves. Meanwhile, the story of the couple as newlyweds is told in flashback, as they prepare to leave rural Mississippi in search of a better life. Past and present collide as two people reach a turning point in their relationship.
