Jonathan alexandratos is a New York City playwright. He has written over 40 plays - ranging in length from one minute to an hour and a half - since 2002. Starting in high school, Jonathan began writing plays when he figured getting a girl was out of the question. He then fell in love with the craft. Lately, he is in the process of mounting his full-length, two-act drama "Death in Mozambique" once again. It had been staged in October 2008 by Industry Power Play. Jonathan's plays, from comedy to drama, continue to entertain drunken college students everywhere.

Death In Mozambique

Synopsis:
This play is among very few to be set in Beira, Mozambique during the signing of the Rome Peace accords (October 1992). It's business-as-usual at "Freedom," a local bar run by american expatriate Joachim Carpenter and his african assistant Graca. Death threats and gun shots ("the usual") provide the soundtrack to this gripping story. But who is firing the rounds? Is it the africans? Joachim's old friend just arriving into town, missionary Tim Burrows? The Soviets? Indeed, anyone can fire a gun, and paper treaties won't stop the bullets. Yet there's so often a deeper motivation to crime. This work zeros in on one of the more common: redemption. Even in the far reaches of Mozambique, we're all human.
