Synopsis:

Germany, 1990. A few months after the wall came down, Roswitha Berger travels from the west to former East Germany, her place of birth. It is a painful travel into her own past: Back in 1970, she, her husband and their baby daughter were captured when trying to flee the country. She was sent to prison, her child was taken away from her. She was deported to West Germany without knowing what happened to her child. Soon after the wall came down, she learns from official files that her daughter had been put up for forced adoption by politically reliable parents, a common practice then. Roswitha gets onto a train into the East without really knowing what to find when her journey will come to an end.
