Synopsis: | August 1991, Brooklyn: Ruth and Dovid, Hasidic Jews, have been married a year and have no child to show for it. Idiosyncratic in their adherence to Jewish law, the couple lives isolated within an already isolated community. Enter their downstairs neighbor, JSrgen-a Norwegian immigrant who, underneath a tranquil exterior, hides an unconquerable pain. The trio forms a close bond-each depending on the other-all haunted, like the neighborhood around them, by a potentially destructive demon | |||||
