Biography of Angeliki Zaphiropoulou

Born in Chaikali,a village near Patras, the Cultural Capital of Europe 2006 (Peloponnesos-Greece). Based: Athens. In the''Apollon'' Municipal Theatre of Patras,a jewel of the architect Ernst Ziller,Zaphiropoulou saw her first theatre performance at the age of four. She has studied ''Screenwriting: Visualizing Your Story(Dramatic Art)'', University of California Extension and ''Starting to Write'', Open College of the Arts(OCA),England, by correspondence. During the years she was an employee of PPC ,she studied ''Journalism'' and ''Public Relations'' through ICS, London and translated plays by English ,American and French playwrights. Some of them had been presented on the Greek TV. The Violinist has been translated into French by Michele Larchez, her best French friend, she first met in the University of Cambridge, England, in 1972 when Zaphiropoulou attended a Vacation Course on Shakespeare in the Mid-Twentieth Century. She has also written plays in Greek. She is an Associate Member of The Foreign Press Association of Greece from 1985. She particularly enjoys being informed of many countries theatre news on her SW radio in English, French, Spanish and Italian. Her plays have been favourably reviewed in Amateur Stage and DAWN (Drama Association of Wales) theatre magazines. The Painter And The Portrait: - The multiplicity of nationalities of the characters-Greek, French and English-does make for casting challenges but the exoticism of both the characters and the romantic settings makes this a very different choice of play.
