Synopsis: | Paper Son is Byron Yee's acclaimed solo show about growing up in Oklahoma, moving to California, becoming a stand-up comedian, then finding his heritage. Asked to audition for a Hollywood movie as a "wacky Chinese restaurant owner", the disastrous result pushes Byron into a journey of his past. He is confronted as a stranger in a strange land while watching a Chinese New Year's Day parade and later has chance encounter with a elderly guide at the infamous Angel Island Immigration Station in the middle of San Francisco Bay. These incidents lead Byron to unravel the mysteries of his immigrant father's past, a story long forgotten but soon uncovered within the National Archives of the United States. | |||||
