Synopsis: | Alf Jackson is a narrow-minded (but big-hearted) farm boy from Connecticut, determined to make his pile, return home, buy the neighbors' farm, and marry his childhood sweetheart. A perfect plan - doomed to go awry. Jim Anderson is a New Yorker, twice Alf's age - a well-educated, cosmopolitan man-of-the-world, but marital strife has made him cynical about love. He takes Alf on as a partner, deals fairly with him, offers him sage advice, and expands his horizons considerably. In return, Alf complains of boredom, bemoans his failing long-distance relationship, brings home a dog, criticizes Anderson's jackass, falls in love with a French girl who deals twenty-one at a local saloon, and - worst of all - takes up the banjo! | |||||
