Synopsis: "Well, I'm only an average playgoer - but I'd say it is all about Alan Turing, the famous Cambridge don, cryptanalyst (Enigma machine, WWII) and mathematics wizard who was one of the first people who arrived at the idea of "computers". It was played out in many short scenes covering his life, beginning at the end, then switching back to early childhood, and all along interpreted by his teddy bear (a great role) who he keeps with him - sort of like a Greek Chorus, or cheerleading section or scolding mom. It doesn't deal with his homosexuality until the end when he has been "treated" for his sexuality after being arrested for "gross indecency". . .most of the facts of his life are well known, but it's very energetic, fast and engaging and the bear is a good dramatic device" - L Slater | ||||
