Synopsis: | Elsie's husband died in the War and she is left to bring up their son with her husband's elderly mother. Seventeen year old Roy is a surly bully. He is arrested for stealing a handbag. He is put on probation and this seems to change him. He starts going to football practice. But this turns out to be a front - he is using it to run a gang of bag snatchers and to see a fifteen year old girl. When he hears that his mother plans to get married he goes berserk. However the wedding to Mac goes ahead. When they return from honeymoon they find that the police are on their way to arrest Roy. Mac says that Roy deserves a beating. Roy defends himself with a razor. But before Mac can beat him the police arrive and take a defiant Roy away | |||||

Synopsis: | Jack and Katie are hard up. Then Jack's aunt dies and leaves him her manor house. She has been running it as a retirement home for some elderly people. Jack discovers that he can get £2,000 a year grant for looking after them and is glad because this will help his money worries. But there are strings attached to the grant that they fail to fulfil. Then they try to get family allowance - they try to adopt the old folk - they are dressed up as boy scouts and guides to fool the short sighted adoption agent - but he is not fooled. The old folk are all ex cons and they steal a safe full of money to help Jack and Katie. | |||||
