Synopsis: | A sensory adventure for audiences. Step off the street, and into a darkened room. You can hear someone breathing. Maybe it is your own breath. You can sense someone moving. The ground beneath your feet feels strange. You are not alone. BLINDA is an exchange between audience and performers. You will find yourself in unfamiliar circumstances, where the distinction between yourself and others seems less clear. Your actions are reflected back at you, and resonate outwards from you in ways you never imagined. BLINDA takes its cue from Kafka's short story The Double, in which a man walks down the street and sees someone who looks exactly the same as he does. As a consequence of this his life changes forever. We invite you to look into a mirror and realize that for a short space of time you will not see yourself you will see nothing; you will have disappeared. And when you return, things might have changed. The world is not quite what it seemed, and the needs of strangers are the same as yours.

Synopsis: | Dead Cat Bounce' began life as a topical look at the current economic and cultural crisis, and a critical exploration of the need to have our relationship with life mediated by 'experts'. Volcano Theatre Company did all the research, and even talked a bit about equations. But the topicality gradually disappeared - or at least, it didn't really disappear but it started to follow resonances, to reach out a bit and pick up different lines of continuity or moments of change. They found ourselves in 1977. A thriving year for plane hijackings, and a busy period for the terrorists of the Red Army Faction. The Sex Pistols and the The Clash released their seminal albums, and Spain's fascist regime gasped its last breaths. It was also the year that General Zia took over in Pakistan, who would preside over the Islamification of that state and fund the mujahideen in Afghanistan. He was also keen on privatisation and deregulation, nuclear weapons and the curtailment of civil liberties, and would make Pakistan the key strategic ally of the West in that region, with consequences that are still unfolding across the globe. The Vietnam war, of course, was over, although its meanings for American culture and global politics were far from closed. Which brings us to where Dead Cat Bounce begins, on the set of Apocalypse Now. Coppola continued to shoot his film throughout 1977. One weekend in the autumn of that year, a very different event took place on the other side of the world. At Cardiff University in Wales, a conference was gathering which aimed to take the temperature of a 'dying century'. Experts in numerous disciplines converged to present their papers at the Cardiff International Conference on Consciousness and Nihilism. Among the thronging intellectuals there, were two very particular young delegates. A small part of their lives and stories unfold against the twin backdrops of the conference rooms and Coppola's film. Oh, and somewhere in all this you might well spot a dead cat. Bouncing. . .

Synopsis: | This hilarious and satirical new musical delves into the impossible promises of modern medicine and cosmetic surgery, welcoming you to a surreal dystopia of (im)patient care and private profit. Once seen as the preserve of vain celebrities and the super-rich, cosmetic surgery has now become part of everyday life, offering us yet another constant reminder of our imperfections, and shifting the goalposts of normality. Why submit to the indignity of growing old or being ugly when even the hard-pressed can save up and buy their way out of nature's cruel game with an endoscopic eyebrow lift or a lower trunk body-tuck? Attractive people succeed in life, get paid more and climb the ladder faster than those less appealing to the eye is rejuvenating our sagging faces or nether regions just another part of our duty to maximise our advantages in a competitive world? A show for anyone who has ever looked in the mirror and thought "What if..?" Prosthetic Soul is an exciting new collaboration between Mr & Mrs Clark and Volcano. Mr & Mrs Clark create unique and astonishing performances, often with partners including Chapter, Tactile Bosch, Taliesin and Marc Rees. Volcano is Wales' leading contemporary theatre company.

Synopsis: | Shelf Life is an extraordinary theatrical adventure exploring a magical building at the heart of Swansea's history. Enter the outer courtyard, labyrinthine stacks and circular reading room of the Old Library in Alexandra Road. The last books were cleared out and the doors closed to the public at the end of 2007. Now, like ghosts, we can browse the shelves once more, and even poke our noses in to places where once only librarians could be found. Brace yourself for surprises and strange occurrences, singing librarians, extraordinary dancers, and for a little more noise and disruption than is usually allowed.
