| Synopsis: | This is a one-man multimedia theatrical adaptation of John Milton's 17th-century poem. Emulating Shakespeare, Milton originally intended the poem as a theatrical piece but quickly found the scope of Heaven, Hell, and everything in between far to vast for the stage. Today however, with the use of computer animation, Van Dyck's adaptation readily brings to life the Demons of Milton's imagination. When asked why Paradise Lost, Van Dyck explains, "We seem to repeat the same pivotal mistake in various incarnations throughout our history. I wanted to use the sublime language of the greatest epic poem ever written, dust off its universal message, and give it an upgrade." - nytheatre.com | |||||
