The son of a Calvinist Afrikaner father and a Berlin born Jewish mother Pieter began his dramatic career as a serious playwright and only later switching to one-man revues and stand-up. He is best known for his character Evita Bezuidenhout - a South African equivalent to Dame Edna Everage. In 1994 she even interviewed Nelson Mandela on the television show "Funigalore". He is currently involved with AIDS/HIV activist and educational campaigns. Pieter has written a large number of plays in Afrikaans.
