Synopsis: | Created and performed by Julie Troost and Scott Troost, The Interim begins when two people find themselves at an open grave site, not quite sure how they got there. Caught in the narrow space between life and death, they wait as their corporeal bodies linger in a coma following an accident. Fighting amnesia, they attempt to rediscover what they accomplished during their lives and determine the relevance of their current condition. During the play, the characters are confronted by their childhood dreams which are reflected in the clothing they are surprised to find themselves in: articles reminiscent of an aviator and a dancer. They engage in reenactments of events from their lives, attempting to renew the youthful innocence they had lost over time. Surprised to find joy in their precarious situation, their conversation drifts between memories, meaning, and beliefs. Questions of faith boil to the surface instigated by the pressure of a clock counting down the time remaining before they will be moving on | |||||
