Born in Hamilton, Ontario, and often described as the quintessential Canadian, Gary 'pigboy' Swartz graduated with a B. Sc. in Communications from Ohio University and has more or less made his living as a copywriter/journalist ever since. In addition to writing advertising in both Canada and Japan, where he lived some 15 odd years (very odd) and won a handful of awards, he has written numerous magazine articles and was a weekly music columnist (freelance) for The Japan Times.
