Synopsis:
"Backstage at Vestments, a popular New York drag bar, Rhoda Heartbreak reigns supreme. She and her fellow cast mates Ginger Snap, 'Lotta Drama, and Stella Mann dazzle the crowds nightly as they scrape and scrimp to make ends meet. But one fateful night when Stella calls in sick, the three remaining queens are astonished to find out that her replacement is Jennifer Sloan, a fantastically talented new drag queen who also happens to be a biological woman. What ensues is a darkly comedic examination of the racism, sexism, ageism, and homophobia that still run beneath the surface of a society that knows better

Adapting his original play by the same name, 2006 Shubert Playwriting Fellow E. Dale Smith partners with composer David Wayne Fox to bring this darkly funny production to musical life. Combining drag performance genres with traditional musical theatre structures, the production provides an in-depth perspective of what lies behind the lipstick in this world of glamour and pretense. Behind the scenes of Vestments Drag Bar in the West Village, Rhoda Heartbreak reigns supreme. But everything changes when one of her fellow queens calls out sick and is replaced by Jennifer Sloan, an exuberant, talentedbiological woman. With four queens, can you spot the real bitch?
