Michael Slade is an award-winning children's novelist, playwright and television writer. His plays have been produced in New York City at MCC, EST, the Lark, the Lambs, the Promenade, and the York Theatre among others, as well as in Los Angeles, various regional theatres, and at the Edinburgh Festival, Scotland. In Memory of Karl Marx was written for the late Colleen Dewhurst at her request. His musical, Bye, Bye Big Guy was presented at the Lucille Lortel Theatre as part of the 2007 New York International Fringe Festival. Mr. Slade has written extensively for family audiences. His musicals: Hansel and Gretel (directed my Michael Mayer); The Great Brain; Goldilocks and the Three Bears; Where's Waldo? (directed by Gabriel Barre, starring Daphne Rubin Vega); The Swiss Family Robinson; The Three Pigs; Peter Rabbit; Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and Superfudge, all produced by Theatreworks/USA, each opened in New York City and then toured the country. He also wrote the book toPokemon Live! which opened at Radio City Music Hall prior to embarking on national and international tours. His first children's novel, The Horses of Central Park(Scholastic Hardcover/Apple Paperback) won the 1993 ISAR Award. Mr. Slade's work for television has garnered him a 1997 Writers' Guild Award nomination forAnother World, and a 2001 Emmy nomination for One Life to Live. He has also written for Passions and Days of Our Lives.Other television credits include Charles Schulz: A Charlie Brown Life for A&E's Biography for Kids. He is currently collaborating with Melissa Manchester and Sharon Vaughn on a new musical, tentatively titled, Blue.
