Notes: | - | |||||
Synopsis: | For over a century, children have been beguiled by the tales of Lewis Carroll, author of Alice in Wonderland. But few know that Carroll was the literary alter-ego of Charles Dodgson, an accomplished photographer of young girls. When Dodgson turns his lens on young Alexandra Kitchin (also known as 'Xie'), his associates question whether she is just his muse or the subject of a darker obsession. In his new play Xie (pronounced 'ecksy'), Justin Sherin has produced a sensual drama with contemporary overtones: it focuses on Carroll's favorite photographic subject, whose image was forever distorted by her trip through his looking glass. | |||||
