Synopsis: | Bina Sharif's new play Here Comes the Change is a satirical look back at the recent Presidential Election. We are taken on a whimsical journey to the Presidential debate, where Senator McCain appears more worried about losing his own house than winning the White House. His opponent, cool, collected Senator Obama, calls for both social and economic change, in an effort to win over his most ardent opponents. In the audience, poor Joe the Plumber tries to make himself heard. But will anyone listen? Meanwhile, Sarah Palin talks and talks and talks. . .but can anybody figure out what she's saying?! TV Hosts and Political Pundits argue amongst themselves. Election night comes and is met with all the fervor of the Kentucky Derby. And, of course, we all know who wins!

Parts other: | - | |||||
Notes: | - | |||||
Synopsis: | Think of Ben Brantley and Write a Happy Play is a new comedy by Bina Sharif. The play is about a straight, unhappily married couple, Mona and Robert. Mona is a playwright known for writing very sad, tragic, and unhappy war plays. Robert has never been an admirer of her style of writing and by now is fed up with her and his marriage. Robert, at the same time, is enamored by the reviews of Ben Brantley, the chief drama critic of the New York Times who mostly writes about Broadway plays. Robert gives a pep talk to Mona and tells her that one way to save their long unhappy marriage would be for her to write an entertaining, commercially successful play by thinking of Ben Brantley. For Robert and everyone else involved in the theater world, Ben Brantley is the ultimate success. The idea of success should make Mona come up with a happy topic. According to Robert, their marriage has become nothing but an unendingly tragic Iraq war play. Mona really wants to get away from the depressing plays that she writes and save her marriage. Is it in Mona to write a happy play even when she thinks of Ben Brantley? We shall find out.
