Synopsis: | A legend of Sicily is a retelling of the ancient Sicilian legend of Cola Pesce, a boy half-human and half-creature of the sea. Born to a marriage of a village woman and the god Neptune, the young boy Cola does his best at leading a normal life (despite his green scaled lower torso) playing with his dolphin friend and village children under the protective eye of his mother, Donna Sophia. Simple acts of kindness such as giving gifts of gold and rubies found deep in the sea to his friends lead to others outside the safety of the village curious to see this strange youth; among them King Frederick of Sicily. The king comes to the village to test the boy and while he is there Cola discovers a threat that could destroy the entire island: a threat that only he can eliminate. Everyone turns to Cola to save Sicily but they soon realize the price he would have to pay. This exciting new play is perfect for both young and old actors and can be played to wide variety of audiences. | |||||
