Synopsis:

Set against the gritty backdrop of pre and post-9/11 Far Rockaway, New York, The Albatross is a story of a burdened teenage boy, Stacey O'Flanagan, who is desperate to keep his dysfunctional family from falling apart. His father, an FDNY firefighter, loses his life in 9/11 after a prothetic dream fortelling his demise. Stacey's mother, the young wed, sensual and alcohol dependent Cathleen is in a delicate state after the loss of her husband. When her world is rocked by a rape against her by a family friend, her mind is shattered and her lusts become her tormentors. Stacey finds himself the object of her desires, a miniature of who his father once was, and fights to resist her affections. Meanwhile, Stacey is falling hard for the smart and beautiful girl on the block, Jamie Shea. As his family drama ascends, the reactions of his mother become more and more hostile, more and more unstable. How far will Stacey go to keep his family together? To keep his mother satisfied?
