Synopsis: | As the ideal of democracy is again put to the test in Canada, many feel that the parties representing 'the people' come nowhere near representing the true voice of the masses. Are we powerless to change this? How can one voice change the world? Beyond the parties and the slogans and the fierce, empty words, are the people. There is always a human side, where families are broken, loves lost and farms burned. The moment he spoke out he was tried, judged and sentenced to hang like a torn banner of what he once was. Prometheus - the true revolutionary - festers in the bowels of the earth, where he questions how much progress man has made through time and what happens to the few who stand steadfast behind their ideals in the face of people relinquishing the burden of fighting for social change. But beyond these larger issues lie the people that have been wronged, and the humanity behind the politik becomes frighteningly real when those who are forgotten - the mad Io, cynical Worker, sympathetic Farmer - are given the choice to act or to remain silent and unheard. Beyond the groan of a deposed god lie the cries of the people who loved him. The furies are larger than life, the gods are clowns, and the people are far too real. And in the middle is Prometheus - a titan of morality and justice, yet flawed in his pride. He must embody his immortality and the responsibility that curses it. He must choose how his name and spirit will live on before he fades into the dust of history. | |||||
