Notes:

This comedy is designed to help laugh away the recession/depression blues

Synopsis:

The Apple Trap is a nine-character (five actor) comedy in two acts. The play follows a young, innocent couple as they visit a large - very large - museum that seems to contain all human history. The museum is guarded by The Keeper, a heartless, lecherous caretaker who is - perhaps - The Devil. As the two visit, they reveal their wish to escape the stress of modern life, admiring an exhibit of a couple who inhabit an ancient bog. In their turn, the couple in the bog, more lively than expected, are dissatisfied with their lot in ancient life and would like to escape the museum for the cultural glories of the 21st century - lipstick, power tools, shoes. Both couples get their wish! They exchange places, deceiving The Keeper in the process. Superficial changes result from the switch, though each couple finds that personality is more important than the historical time line. When The Keeper discovers the deception he is not amused. The end of the play echoes Shaw: "There are two tragedies in life. One is not to get your heart's desire. The other is to get it."
