Synopsis: | Side Effects explores how and why people take medicine, reflecting the personal stories and poignant recollections resulting from our lifelong relationship with tablets, injections, pharmacists, doctors and operations. Fusing choreographic slices of medical histories and a range of narratives with dANTE OR dIEs distinctive style of humour, subtlety, fluid movement, music and design, the piece questions just what we put into our bodies. From life threatening illnesses to hangovers, how aware are we of what medicine is and how it works? Why does curling up on the couch with a DVD and a loved one stroking your hair also act as a remedy for pain-relief as much as brightly-coloured tablets in a small plastic cup? Ultimately Side Effects playfully asks a question every human being can relate to; how many pills do you take in your lifetime? | |||||
